Description
This knife was inspired by a shape found on the lintel of a house in the village of Irissarry, in the Basque Country. Its maker, Francisco de Aguerre, was a barber and cutler in 1695.
The yatagan-shaped blade is similar to that of Spanish penknives. Black horn-tipped handle. Stainless steel blade 12C27. Guillochage on the blade of 7 “S” representing the seven Basque provinces.
Engraving of the Basque cross (Lauburu) on the blade. Quay engraved with the date 1695.
Dimensions: length of the closed knife: 125 mm. Length of the open knife: 220 mm.
