Description
Created for Manufacture Française d’Armes et Cycles in 1906, the Thiers-built Bouledogue was a model designed, according to the catalog of the famous Saint Etienne company, “for people who feel the need to have, either in their pocket or in their tool bag, a rugged knife for all uses”.
In its early days, this classic came in two pieces: a strong 27mm-wide blade and a pocketknife-type blade. In 1939, it was offered in two pieces, still with the strong blade and a choice of either a smaller blade or a punch. In 1953, the shape was modernized and remained unchanged until 1980, the last year the Manufrance catalog was published.
In 2004, the Issard company, based in La Monnerie le Montel, revived the Bouledogue in its old form. Blade: wide, center-point blade, in carbon steel and stainless steel. Handle: flamed blond horn tip. Handle with bolster.
