1695 Yatagan Basque knife Damascus and ewe’s horn

This knife was inspired by a shape found on the lintel of a house in the Basque village of Irissarry. Its maker, Francisco de Aguerre, was a barber-cutter in 1695.

The yatagan-shaped blade echoes that of Spanish navajas (traditional folding knives). Handle in Basque sheep horn. 110-layer damasteel stainless steel blade. Guillochage on the blade of 7 “S” representing the seven Basque provinces.

Spring engraved with the date 1695.
