DESCRIPTION

l’Agenais represented this beautiful city, capital of the Lot-et-Garonne department, in the cutlery world from the 18th to the 19th century. In 1836, there were still several cutlers in Agen making it. Unfortunately, it disappeared before the Second World War. This clasp was also made in Thiers, with a yatagan or bourbonnaise-shaped blade (point in the center), a handle in gray or red horn, sometimes inlaid with mother-of-pearl, which made it original, and three prominent rounded rosettes. The heel was square or finished with a through-hole. The model shown is made by Robert Beillonnet, twice “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” in cutlery. Open knife: 225mm. Closed: 120mm. Black horn handle with mother-of-pearl insert, forced detent system, turned and chased brass plates, RWL34 steel blade. The knife pictured is the one you will receive.
